facebook discussion: The ink of the scholar is more sacred then the blood of martyr...?

No doubt a martyr makes the supreme sacrifice and must be held in the highest esteem. And accordingly we always put our martyrs at the highest pedestal.
But it a thought provoking question.
Say there are two equally die-hard patriots, on the same mission, does equally heroic acts, one makes the supreme sacrifice and dies on the battle front, and the other survives.
The battle is still not won.
The other one goes back to the society and...... and he motivates others through his talks, speeches, writings and succeeds in producing ten more youngsters like themselves. They all together achieve success in their mission.
I think the scholar gets more opportunity and time to motivate and pass the knowledge to other members of society or groups of humans beings, therefore in the ultimate evaluation he can contribute more to the society.
But it does not take away anything from the sacrifice of a martyr. We should continue to hold him in the highest esteem, higher than any scholar, for the ultimate sacrifice of his life.

Power can be exerted by living beings only. Scholar's words (ink) ensure availability of power through motivated soldiers. Martyrs always inspire us to sacrifice but thoughts motivate us to take the chance with our lives.

One has asked my comments on importance of words. I think in my both comments I have highlighted the importance of words only. Though I have mentioned that we should have highest regards for a martyr who has laid down his life, but I have maintained superiority of words/ink of a scholar over that. I quote from my previous comments:
"I think the scholar gets more opportunity and time to motivate and pass the knowledge to other members of society or groups of human beings, therefore in the ultimate evaluation he can contribute more to the society."
"Scholar's words (ink) ensure availability of power through motivated soldiers. Martyrs always inspire us to sacrifice but thoughts motivate us to take the chance with our lives."
I think these lines clearly indicate where my vote lies. Without losing any respect for our martyrs, I am fully in support of words/ink of a scholar.

हालाँकि इस में कोई शक नहीं कि ‘ink of the scholar’ और ‘blood of the martyr’ की तुलना करना मुश्किल ही नहीं कुछ हद तक गलत भी है.

What are we looking for in Lokpal? A superman with super powers and super integrity? Or a super mechanism? I think we are not searching for a superman from some alien planet, we are just looking for a simple mechanism to contain corruption. This mechanism will not be the only solution but it will be one important, rather the most important link of that chain to contain corruption.
I feel it is high time that we establish a mechanism which can take cognizance of complaints involving corruption.
Today if one has to complain against a corrupt SHO of a Police Station what is the remedy? Complain at the same PS? At some other PS?Complain to his superior officer, the SP? Lodge an FIR? Where? Complain at police control room? At help centre? etc etc all these are part of the same organisation. May even be the same 'chain' asking for money. Or one goes to his MLA, MP, CM or some other political leader. There is practically no mechanism where one can lodge his complaint for a possible action. Under present mechanism you complain to an official who himself is the part of that system. He might or might not be directly involved but he is part of that chain. On his part the SHO just has to be careful of a 'heavyweight', rest he can continue to do whatever he wants. And it is true for most of the other departments too.

The Lokpal is not the only solution but it will be one very important step of that mechanism against corruption. Once there is some mechanism, the results would also be there. We have seen that in case of EC, CVC, CAG etc.

And as far as someone coming from outside to head this office is concerned, well we have had enough of those coming from outside... let the real Indians take over.
